The Village Heart follows four people closely. Between them they describe almost everything the Foundation learned in its first decade.
The beginning

A conversation at a broken well became the reason the Foundation exists.
During a drought in Mkuranga, Maryvonne Pool stopped to speak with a woman drawing water from a broken well. That conversation became the starting point of African Reflections Foundation.

A well at a school changed what a school day could be — for her and 600 others.
A newspaper report led Maryvonne Pool to a crowded school built of mud and sticks — and to Monica, whose school later received a well serving 600 pupils.

Mama Mbonde · Njiapanda, Tanzania
She turned village organising into training, poultry and a shared account.
Mama Mbonde approached the Foundation for sanitation, then built something more durable: trained women, organic poultry, and a shared bank account that kept the earnings in the village.
